A consignment of six industrial engines was shipped from Qingdao for a construction machinery operation in Africa. This article sets out what the consignment covered, how the units were prepared, and what documentation accompanied them.
Scope of the consignment
The order covered six engines supplied for a fleet operating in West Africa. Engines for a fleet of this type are usually specified by capacity and emission standard rather than by exact model designation, because the machines may have been assembled from components sourced at different times. Confirming the required configuration before quoting therefore matters more here than for a single-machine replacement.
Preparation and inspection
Each engine was inspected before packing. For units supplied new, the check covered external condition, absence of transit damage, and confirmation that the engine model and configuration matched the order.
Before loading, each engine model number was cross-referenced against the machine application to confirm compatibility. Where the customer supplied machine serial numbers, fitment was confirmed against those rather than against the fleet type alone.
Crating and loading
Engines were crated in wooden cases with forklift access, secured against movement and sealed against moisture. Because the destination route involves long-distance sea transit, corrosion protection was applied as an additional measure.
Container loading was photographed before sealing and the photographs were supplied to the customer for confirmation. The loading arrangement was chosen to keep the engines clear of the container walls and to allow unloading in the order they would be needed.
Documentation
Export documentation was prepared for customs clearance at the destination, including the commercial invoice and a packing list describing each engine by model, quantity and dimensions. Documentation was also structured to allow the consignment to be cleared without delay, which matters where the fleet is awaiting the units to resume work.
