A 40GP container of mechanical components, including engines and drive shafts, was professionally packed and dispatched from Qingdao to a customer in Africa. This article describes what was loaded, how it was packed, and what the customer receives.

What was loaded

The consignment combined several categories of mechanical component in a single container: industrial engines, drive shafts, and associated mounting hardware. Mixed-category consolidation of this kind is common where a fleet replacement is being carried out alongside routine wear-part replenishment, and it reduces the number of shipments a customer has to manage.

Packing method by component type

Each component category requires a different packing method, and mixing them in one container without distinction is where damage most often occurs.

Engines and drive shafts were crated in wooden cases with forklift access, secured against movement inside the crate and sealed against moisture.

Smaller mechanical items were palletised and shrink-wrapped, with heavier items placed at the bottom of the container and lighter items above, which also improves unloading sequence at destination.

Fasteners, seals and small machined parts were packed separately in sealed bags inside cartons, so that a damaged outer case does not expose loose small items to contamination.

Container loading and securing

Loading was photographed before the container was sealed and the photographs supplied for confirmation. The loading arrangement kept heavy items low and distributed, so weight is not concentrated at one end of the container, which reduces the risk of damage during handling.

Documentation and arrival

Export documentation was prepared for customs clearance at destination, with the packing list describing each item by model, quantity and dimensions. Loading photographs and the packing list together provide the customer with a reference for verifying the consignment against the order on arrival, which is also the evidence needed should a shortage or damage claim be raised.
