Product Introduction:

The EPEC2024 is a CANopen-compatible programmable controller designed for mobile and industrial machinery applications. It is built to withstand harsh environmental conditions including high/low temperatures, moisture, and vibration. The controller can endure up to 100G shock and vibration, making it suitable for construction, mining, and agricultural equipment .

1. Installation Location
The controller is typically mounted within the machine's cab or control box on a DIN rail or via mounting brackets. It should be installed in a dry, vibration-protected area away from direct heat sources. The compact dimensions are 147mm × 113mm × 46mm with a weight of approximately 0.7kg . Four heavy-duty AMPSEAL connectors (one 8-pin for power and CAN bus, three 23-pin for I/O) ensure secure, sealed connections .

2. Function
The EPEC2024 functions as a dedicated programmable logic controller (PLC) for vehicle and machinery control systems . It is programmed using CoDeSys software and processes signals through 52 configurable I/O ports . Key features include:

  • Dual CAN bus interfaces for communication with other control modules and sensors 

  • I/O configuration: 4 x DI, 4 x AI/FB, 24 x DI/DO/PWM, 8 x DI/AI, 4 x DI/DO, 8 x DI/PI 

  • PWM outputs for controlling proportional hydraulic valves 

  • Pulse inputs for frequency and position measurement (up to 20kHz) 

  • Feedback inputs for load current monitoring

3. Maintenance and Service
The controller is a sealed, non-serviceable electronic unit. There are no user-serviceable internal components. If the unit becomes faulty or unresponsive, it must be replaced with an identical EPEC2024 unit. The module incorporates self-diagnostic features including:

  • Power supply range 10–30VDC (recommended 24VDC) 

  • Overvoltage protection (up to 70V), overheat protection, and output short-circuit protection 

  • Hardware watchdog that automatically reboots the module after a 300ms software deadlock 

  • Operating temperature range: -40°C to +70°C, IP67 protection rating 

Before removal or installation, ensure power is disconnected and all CAN bus communication is terminated.

4. Important Notes
Verify the controller's firmware version (runtime) before programming, as CoDeSys 2.1 is required for older firmware (pre-2.1x) and CoDeSys 2.3 for newer versions (2.3.x or later) . The programming environment must match the module's runtime version for proper compatibility.
