Product Introduction:
1. Basic Identity
This carrier roller, also referred to as a top roller, is an undercarriage component made for the XCMG QUY50 50-ton crawler crane. It mounts on top of the track frame, above the track chain.
2. Installation Position
The carrier roller sits on the upper surface of the track frame, positioned between the front idler and the rear drive sprocket. Several carrier rollers are usually spaced along the top of the frame, depending on the model. The roller mounts using bearing pins and brackets bolted to the frame.
3. Function
Unlike bottom track rollers that carry the full machine weight, the carrier roller has a different job. It guides the upper run of the track chain and keeps it from sagging or rubbing against the track frame. It also helps maintain proper chain alignment, which reduces wear on the track shoes and extends the life of the whole undercarriage. The roller turns with the track chain as it moves.
4. Material and Construction
The wheel body is typically forged from alloy steel grades such as 40Mn2 or 42CrMo. The tread surface is induction-hardened for wear resistance. Bearings are sealed to keep out dirt and moisture, as the roller works in muddy and dusty conditions.
5. Maintenance
Inspect the carrier roller regularly for oil leaks around the seals and check for cracks or flat spots on the wheel surface. If the roller stops turning, it will cause extra friction and speed up chain wear. A seized roller also puts more load on the drive system. Replace the roller as a complete unit when worn. The typical warranty period is 2500 working hours.
