Motor Grader Power Switch – Circuit and Terminal Identification
A motor grader power switch may act as an ignition switch, master isolation switch or control-power switch. The correct part must match circuit voltage, current duty, terminal logic, connector and mechanical mounting. Matching only the key shape or knob is not sufficient.
What information is needed?
| Area | Verification |
|---|
| Electrical system | Nominal voltage, circuit function and approved current duty |
| Terminals | Markings, pin count, stud size, connector keying and pin assignment |
| Positions | OFF/ON/START or isolation sequence, spring return and accessory functions |
| Mounting | Panel-hole size, thread, anti-rotation feature and bezel depth |
Diagnosis before replacement
Disconnect power using the machine procedure. Inspect the connector for heat, corrosion and loose terminals. Test switch continuity only against the correct wiring diagram. A no-start condition can also originate from battery supply, relays, interlocks, harness damage or the starter circuit.
Safe installation
Transfer one identified connection at a time or label every wire. Do not assign terminals by position alone. After assembly, verify all switch states and safety interlocks before normal operation.

FAQ
Can terminals be matched by their physical position?
No. Use terminal markings and the wiring diagram because internal logic can differ.
Does a new switch fix every no-start fault?
No. Supply voltage, relays, interlocks, wiring and starter controls also require diagnosis.
Can a switch with more positions be substituted?
Only if the circuit design and manufacturer specification explicitly allow it.
Compatibility note: Confirm the circuit, voltage, terminals, positions and mounting before ordering.
